…..Answer: In the Upper Leg.
The femur is the thigh bone and is the largest and strongest bone in the human body. It runs from the hip to the knee, supports much of the body’s weight and plays a major role in standing, walking and running.
Although the femur is extremely strong, it can fracture when subjected to significant force, such as during a vehicle collision or serious fall.
A fractured femur can be life-threatening because substantial internal bleeding may occur around the injury. The person may experience severe pain, swelling, deformity, difficulty moving the leg and signs of shock.
Call 111 for a suspected serious femur fracture. Keep the person still, support the injured limb in the position found and monitor their breathing, response and general condition until help arrives.
Tomorrow we move upwards and discover the bone that forms your lower jaw.
