The kidneys:
- Filter waste from the blood
- Produce urine
- Help control fluid balance
- Regulate important minerals
- Support blood-pressure control
- Help stimulate red-blood-cell production
Kidney disease may develop slowly and sometimes causes few early symptoms. Swelling, changes in urination, tiredness and persistent nausea may occur as function declines.
