WorkSafe recommends nominating someone—perhaps a workplace first aider—to take responsibility for maintaining the kits.
Used items should be replaced as soon as practicable. At least once every 12 months, the kit should be checked against its inventory to make sure everything required is present.
Check that sterile products remain sealed, equipment is in working order and nothing has passed its expiry date.
The inventory should be kept in the kit and signed and dated after the annual check.
And employers can’t pass the cost on to workers: a PCBU must not charge workers for health and safety provisions such as workplace first aid kits. (WorkSafe)
