
…five back blows appropriate to the infant’s size. Often, the obstruction clears within the first one or two blows.
If not:
- Turn the infant onto its back
- Support the head and neck
- Give five chest thrusts in the same position used for infant CPR
Continue alternating five back blows and five chest thrusts until the obstruction clears or the infant becomes unresponsive.
