To manage a nosebleed:

  • Sit the person down
  • Lean them forward
  • Pinch the soft part of the nose, just below the bony bridge
  • Maintain pressure for 10 minutes without checking

On hot days, pressure may need to be maintained for up to 20 minutes.

Call 111 if:

  • Bleeding lasts longer than 20 minutes
  • The nosebleed follows a head injury
