
Provide reassurance and continue monitoring:
- skin colour and temperature
- breathing rate
- level of response
Check regularly for changes or new symptoms.
Blocked blood flow
Shock can occur when blood flow to or from the heart is blocked. Causes include:
- pressure in the chest from a collapsed lung
- blood clots in the lungs
- fluid building around the heart
- a weakened heart muscle
- compression of large veins during pregnancy
All are serious and require urgent medical care.
