Today is a call to check first aid kits wherever they are located. They may sit in place for years gathering dust. Alternatively, they are used regularly. A first aid kit is a requirement in a work vehicle. If that vehicle is shared with other colleagues, then there is a risk that equipment is used and not replaced. It is advisable in these circumstances that the kit be checked daily.
The law says we must have them; however, they can become a requirement often forgotten until needed. Some elements of the equipment in first aid kits have expiry dates attached to them. Do you know what should be in your kit? Worksafe has a quick guide publication that can help you decide your organisation’s best practice. You will find a section on first aid kits commencing on page eight. Click HERE to check out their guide to First Aid.Â
