….. get away from the extreme heat. Hyperthermia may result from several factors, including exercise in a hot environment where the body absorbs excessive heat. In recent years we have seen the introduction of enforced drinks breaks when temperatures become extreme at sporting events. This is due to a better understanding of the effects of hyperthermia, combined with concerns for players well-being improving. Other factors can include the body’s natural cooling mechanisms failing to work effectively and abnormal changes to the body’s set temperature.
