In recent years we have seen the introduction of enforced drinks breaks when temperatures become extreme at sporting events. This is due to a better understanding of the effects of hyperthermia, combined with concerns for players well-being improving. Other factors can include the body’s natural cooling mechanisms failing to work effectively and abnormal changes to the body’s set temperature.
