…..Ask someone to keep an eye on things, empty your letterbox, put out your rubbish bins. Even park one of their cars in your driveway. And if you are away for a few weeks make sure your lawns are mowed. Leave your blinds open if that is what you usually do. This way things will appear to look normal.

Make sure you have set your alarms before you lock up. Lock everything and don’t leave a spare key out.

Install timers on your electronics. Set the radio or tv to turn on at certain times. Also, set your lights to turn on and off.

Beware of what you are posting on social media.

Clean your kitchen, this isn’t to do with a break in but there is nothing worse than coming back from holiday and your kitchen has been overrun with ants or cockroaches ????

If you are able to then hiring a house sitter is a great idea.
