…..where the blood is originating from. Bright red and frothy blood that results from coughing suggests that it is coming from the lungs. Blood produced from vomiting can also be bright red but may also be dark brown in appearance, often described as looking like coffee grounds.
Bleeding may be found in a person’s urine or coming directly from the penis or vagina. Bleeding may occur from the rectum. Its appearance may be bright red or look like black tar. Be aware that shock is also likely to occur when bleeding is heavy.
