Your safety must come first.
Before approaching, check for danger to:
- Yourself
- The person needing help
- Bystanders
Hazards may include traffic, electricity, fire, fumes, violence, unstable structures, water, blood or other body fluids.
Do not enter an unsafe scene. Call 111 and wait for trained emergency personnel when necessary.
A first aider who becomes injured cannot continue helping and may create another patient.
Remember:
Danger first. Stop, look and think before you act.
