Cooling large burns can reduce body temperature quickly, so keep the person warm with blankets once cooling is complete.

Additional burn care advice:

• Leave blisters intact
• Do not apply creams or butter
• Do not remove peeling skin
• Avoid adhesive tape on burnt skin

These substances can trap heat, increase infection risk and delay healing.
