What happens if I leave the assessment early?

Actions for Survival is committed to ensuring the certificate you receive is compliant with the New Zealand first aid training requirements. In order for this to happen, you will need to complete the whole of the assessment component of the course. This will take four hours in the classroom. If you are unable to complete this requirement we will be unable to issue a full first aid certificate.

Where can we hold our assessments?

Your assessment venue is pre-agreed and we will come to you wherever you are in New Zealand providing your facility meets the requirements to hold a first aid course. This includes:

Building Warrant of Fitness

Car Parking must be available for our tutor

A tv/whiteboard/projection wall for our presentation to be set up on

A room that can facilitate 21 people comfortably , enough floor space to complete CPR assessments

Good lighting

We would like to know if your venue provides Tea/Coffee for your guests

What do I need to bring to my assessment?

Yourself, a pen and some comfortable clothes. Remember some of the assessments will involve getting down onto the floor.

Why do I need to do CPR on the floor for my assessment?

It is an NZRC requirement that CPR for an adult or child is done on a firm flat surface. It is highly unlikely that an adult or child is going to collapse on a table and require CPR. Effective CPR on an adult or a child is therefore demonstrated on the floor.

If I do not successfully complete my assessments am I able to retake them?

You will be given a second opportunity on the day of your course. If you are still unable to demonstrate competency you will be able to re-book onto another course. Depending on the circumstances this may be at an extra cost.

What should I bring to my course?

Yourself, a pen, some lunch, and please wear some comfortable clothing. You will be getting on the floor for example when undertaking CPR.

If you are completing a First Aid Refresher course, please bring your current First Aid certificate. The instructor is required to sight the certificate to ensure you qualify for the refresher course.

What if I have learning difficulties?

If you have any special needs (including those related to language, literacy or numeracy) a relevant disability or concern, please contact us when you book so that appropriate assistance can be negotiated. Please note if a person is required to assist you any associated costs are your responsibility.

Is first aid difficult to learn?

First Aid consists of knowledge and skills, both of which can be learnt by any able-bodied person, adult, teenager or child.
